Definition:
An item designed for use in the administration of an anesthetic for all types of anesthesia requiring inhalational general anesthesia. It is capable of accurately adding a known percentage of vapor to the fresh gases on a continuous flow anesthetic apparatus. Gas concentration delivered is predictable and consistent with the dial setting. The incoming gas stream is split into a diluting flow and a vaporizing flow. The anesthetic is picked up by the vaporizing flow and after accurate metering rejoins the diluting flow. A single control is graduated for a specified concentration of the anesthetic. With valves, tubing, and adapters.
