Definition:
A battery powered, solid-state item designed for monitoring a SPIROMETER. The alarm provides a visual and audible warning if the selected tidal volume is not received by the SPIROMETER within a set time resulting from patient changes, leaks, alteration of machine controls, malfunction within the ventilator and/or machine or power failure.
