US Doctor Heads To Brazil To Speak On Orthopedic Stem Cell Therapy

Main Category: Bones / Orthopaedics
Also Included In: Stem Cell Research
Article Date: 24 Oct 2009

Joseph Purita M.D., a well known Orthopedic Surgeon from Florida has announced that plans are being made with the Orthopedic Academies in Sao Paulo Brazil to present his latest findings on the use of stem cells and plasma rich platelet therapy in the treatment of certain bone and joint problems. Dr. Purita is expected to travel in early 2010 to lecture on the effectiveness of these newer types of treatment for osteoarthritis of the hip, knee and shoulder, partial tears of tendons, muscles, and ligaments including rotator cuff tears, and various back conditions including disc herniations.

In a press release dated October 15th 2009 Dr. Purita had reported that 89% of knee patients reported fifty percent relief of all symptoms as well as other data on chronic hip pain successes. Purita wished to retract those findings and report that patients are reporting 85% relief of symptoms across the board for all Stem Cell and Platelet Rich Plasma therapies. The 85% of patients benefiting from these therapies represents results in the good to excellent category. "Our original findings were taken in conjunction with other data from various sources. New data is linked solely to findings for our patients at the Institute for Regenerative and Molecular Orthopedics," Purita reported. "Our patients are faring well with these new types of treatments and our results mirror other organizations providing similar care."

The Institute for Regenerative and Molecular Orthopedics in Boca Raton, Florida, was founded by Dr. Purita and regularly treats patients from many parts of the United States, South America and the Caribbean Islands. The lectures in Brazil are part of the continuing education programs that the Institute and Dr. Purita regularly participate in.
